BARCAMP BALTICS (UN)CONFERENCE
Barcamp Baltics will take place in Riga, Latvia, from the 8th till the 10th of February 2008. 200 to 300 specialists from various fields of information technology are expected to gather during the event; they will mostly represent the Baltic and CIS states. The main goal of the event is to stimulate the development of new media projects in the Baltic states. Barcamp is a unique international unconference on new media, blogs, podcasts, social networking, citizen journalism, web 2.0, open source and everything else that is connected with it. Unconference includes open presentations, workshops and workgroups; everything is held by the participants themselves. Around 4–5 sessions will be held simultaneously during the event (including presentations, workgroups, speeches, reports, discussions). There will be around 80 presentations during two days, both in English and Russian language.

pixelVÄRK FESTIVAL
pixelVÄRK is a festival for electronic art and subcultures and the Swedish version of pixelACHE. The 2007 pixelVÄRK willl concentrate on seminars discussing aesthetic qualities and a club event with Vj and Dj performances.

INTERNATIONAL SPUTNIK DAY
It is a self-organized event by artists and scientists to commemorate the launch of the first Satellite on October 4, 1957 by the Soviet Union. Participants from 20 cities form a diverse program of dinners, BBQs, web streams, film screenings and lectures. (Budapest, Cologne, Chatillon, Dartington, Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main, Helsinki, Riga, Kopenhagen, Liverpool, Lisabon, Ljubljana, Los Angeles, Madrid, New York City, Porto, Santa Monica, Seattle, Toronto, Wiesbaden).

ART+COMMUNICATION: SPECTRAL ECOLOGY
The 9th international festival Art+Communication is taking place from May 31 to June 10, 2007 in Riga, Liepaja Karosta and Aizpute, Latvia. This year edition is focusing on socio-ecological issues of electromagnetic spectrum and is considering interrelations of the postindustrial human, the environment of his creation and living nature. The various festival events will approach 'spectral ecology' issues from different perspectives: The EXHIBITION in Riga (May 31 - June 10) reveals the effect of electro-magnetic radiation on human organism and maps the most powerful EMS networks in Latvia. The CONFERENCE in Liepajas Karosta / Warport (June 1 - 2) former military setting will discuss phenomenon of espionage, secret experiments, artistic interpretations and electromagnetic radiation effects in the context of military technology. The HAPPENINGS and event programme of the LABICHAMPI (mushroom laboratory) festival in Karosta (June 1 - 3) is devoted to living and growing culture. The mushrooms are used there as an organic material, an urban architectonic design form and as a key element of social communication between locals, artists and festival visitors. At a close, the WORKSHOPS in Aizpute (June 3 - 9) will investigate how the contemporary myth of technology culture are being originate.

PIXELACHE 2007
Pixelache is a festival of electronic art and subcultures. Pixelache presents projects experimenting with media and technology from a broad range of disciplines: artists, engineers, designers, researchers and architects. Pixelache focuses especially in presenting activities of various international grassroot networks and communities such as the VJ community, media activists, the open source community and the demoscene.The goal of Pixelache festival is to act as a bridge between the traditional creative disciplines and rapidly developing electronic subcultures.
